Samara State University Russian Language Center offers Russian language courses which will definitely satisfy your needs, interests and learning style. For more than 15 years we have offered Russian learners from all over the world well-planned curriculum, professional teaching and friendly atmosphere.
We provide Russian Language Courses, for those who wish to study Russian as a foreign language for work and business, for everyday life and communication, scientific research or just for pleasure.
All Russian language programs are based on research in the area of cultural studies and modern life in Russia. They are flexible, responding precisely to your individual learning needs.
Why Study Russia and Russian?
1.Russia is the largest country in the world, twice bigger than the United States or China. You can find wide diversity of nationalities, religions, climatic zones. Russian is spoken by 280 mln people all over the world (native and non-native speakers).
2.Russian history is exciting, Russian culture is rich. Peter the Great, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Dostoevsky, Pushkin, Vasnetsov, Malevich…Can one think about more outstanding people?
3.Russian is the language of politics and international relations.
The end of the Cold War and the collapse of the Soviet Union led to less people wanting to study Russian. However, the Russian language continues to play the important role in all spheres in the CIS countries and it is irreplaceable and in the field of interethnic dialogue. Russian is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.
4.Russian is the language of science and education. Russian remains one of the main languages in the sphere of scientific communication where Russia still has the leading position. Russia has a long-standing tradition in high-quality education for all citizens. Proficiency in the language of instruction is essential to successful study. 94 %of the school students of Russia, 75% in Belarus, 41% in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, 20% in Ukraine, 23% in Kyrgyzstan, 21% in Moldova, 7% in Azerbaijan, 5% in Georgia and 2% in Armenia and Tajikistan receive their education only or mostly in Russian.

Stages of TRKI (TORFL) testing:
The aim of testing - to determine Russian language proficiency according to "National Educational Standards of Russian as a Foreign Language".
TRKI test includes 5 aspects:
Reading. Skills to be tested: understanding of rhetorical functions such as cause-effect, compare-contrast and argumentation, ability to distinguish main ideas, details, inferences, essential information, sentence insertion, vocabulary, rhetorical purpose and overall ideas.
Listening. Skills to be tested: ability to understand main ideas, important details, implications, relationships between ideas, organization of information, speaker purpose and speaker attitude.
Writing. Skills to be tested: ability to build well-structured logical utterance according to communicative purpose.
Speaking. Skills to be tested: ability to speak spontaneously and convey their ideas clearly and coherently, ability to make up a short speech while choosing appropriate vocabulary, support a conversation on a given topic.
Vocabulary. Grammar. Skills to be tested: usage of cases, declensional endings, verbal forms in the defined context, including infinitival constructions.

Levels of TRKI
Elementary:
The successful completion of the Elementary level test confirms that candidate possess the minimal level of communicative skills, allowing to satisfy the minimal requirements in everyday communication.
Test of Russian as a foreign language. Basic level (TORFL-0):
The successful completion of the Basic level test confirms that candidate possess the beginning level of communicative skills, allowing to satisfy the minimal requirements in social and cultural communication.
Test of Russian as a foreign language. Level 1 (TORFL-1). First Certificate Level.
The successful completion of this level confirms that candidate possess the basic level of communicative skills, allowing to satisfy the requirements in social, cultural communication, educational, professional spheres. The First Certificate is an official document, which allows foreign citizens to enter the Russian University.
Test of Russian as a foreign language. Level 2 (TORFL-2).
The successful completion of TORFL-2 confirms that candidate possess rather high level in the all areas of communication, and allows to conduct a professional activity in Russian as an expert in the areas of humanities (excepting philology), engineering and science. This Certificate is needed for obtaining a bachelor`s and master`s degree (excepting degree in philology).
