Natalya Tsirova, graduate of the Faculty of Physics of Samara State University, 2005, and a young specialist of the Department of General and Theoretical Physics, has just returned to Samara after working for two years in France.
Natalya got her PhD in Physics and Mathematics from Moscow State University in 2009. She has been living for two years in a French city Clermont-Ferrand where she occupied herself with completing theoretical research tasks related to charged particles investigation in modern accelerator.
In summer 2008 Natalya gave a speech at the scientific conference in France, her participation was covered by the funds receiver from Russian Foundation for Basic Research. There she was lucky to get acquainted with one of the organizers of the conference – Jean-Francois Mathieu. Jean-Francois highly appreciated Natalya’s level and suggested that she could send him a resume. Natalya won the competition and two weeks after defending her dissertation thesis she left for France where she spent two years working at the University of Auvergne. She got used to living abroad very quickly and after a year could speak French fluently.
French colleagues highly evaluated Nayalya’s work; Alexander F. Krutov, her scientific supervisor, received a very favourable feedback. Foreign employers say that students are very well trained at the Faculty of Physics of Samara State University which enables them to work in present-day science. Students and faculty members of Samara State University have online access to full-text of databases of prominent world editions on all fields of science. It does not matter anymore if the city is big or small which means you can easily work in the field of theoretical physics not ever leaving Samara. It’s a different situation with experimental sciences when one should have up-to-date equipment and getting advances material and technical resources is a challenge for the strategic development of the university.
Natalya had a wonderful opportunity for participation in various conferences as well as traveling for pleasure: she visited Spain, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Great Britain, Switzerland and Belgium.
We ask Natalya if she would like to work in France again. She says: “No, I would not like to work there again. I have many friends left there and you feel safe, but there is no sincerely like we are having here in Russia. I have everything here to continue my work. For now I will stay in Samara, but one can never know.” At Samara State University Natalya teaches students and works in the field she had chosen during her post-graduate studies.
She devotes much of her time to science but she realizes that change of scene is necessary. She does aikido and goes skiing when she has free time, enjoys wandering around the city and taking photos. “If you are good at time-management you will have time for everything. You can work, write articles and spend enough time doing what you like, with your family and friends”, - says Natalya.
Alexander F. Krutov: “Such trips abroad allows you to gain experience, learn lots of things and bring new ideas to the university. This invaluable experience enriches research work of the Department of General and Theoretical Physics and the whole academic process. To make our talented students stay at the university we should not only carry out fundamental research but also applied research which will be contract sponsored. Thus we will be able to attract young researches, pay them decent wage so that they can have a nice life”.
