Nicole Rodomakina, a student of Psychology of Samara State University, became a champion in long jumping. She won the 11th gold medal for Russian Paralympic team and a silver medal for women 100 m. Veronika Doronina (Samara athlete) debuted in javelin throwing and shotput in London Paralympics.
On the 1st of September Oleg Saitov, the minister of sport of Samara Region, Alexey Bendusov, vice-governor of Samara Regional Administration, Andrey Belov, the director of Samara sports school, SSU students and faculty warmly welcomed Nicole Rodomakina and Veronika Doronina at Kurumoch international airport. Samara athletes were greeted with loud cheers. Waiting to receive them were SSU students and fans holding flowers and posters saying “we are proud of you” and signs praising Samara athletes. Alexey Bendusov passed congratulations from the governor of Samara region. Nicole and Veronika were moved by the warm welcome.
On the 18th of September there was a meeting with Nicole Rodomakina at Samara State University.
SSU rector Igor Noskov congratulated Nicole with the Olympic victory and wished her a lot of success and new victories in sport and study as well. He also made presents to Nicole from SSU administration.
