Informatization is one of the key topics to discuss at SSU these days. It started with a visit of Frank Thissen and Richard Stang, professors from Stuttgart Media University (Germany), that took place on May 23-27. Frank Thissen is a Director of the Center of Distant Learning, School of Information technologies and communication; Richard Stang, a member of the Council on Innovations, currently works at the Institute of Applied and Media research, School of Information technologies and communication, Stuttgart Media University. Their visit was organized thanks to a long-term partnership between our institutions. Yuriy A. Rodichev, Vice-rector of Informatization of SSU, and Sergey I. Dubinin, Head of the Department of German Philology, initiated the meeting on behalf of SSU.
Igor A. Noskov, Rector of Samara State University, and Sergey E. Samartsev, Vice-chair of Department of Interregional and International relations, Samara City Administration, took part in the round table. As a result, interuniversity agreement between Samara State University and Stuttgart Media University (Germany) was signed on May 24, 2011.
Specialists in the sphere of Information Technologies and Mass media, as well as graduate and post-graduate students of Samara State University participated in the colloquium. Russian and German scholars discussed the issues of implementation of innovative distant and visual technologies in education, multimedia and virtual means of teaching, developing library resources. Igor A. Noskov emphasized that developing relations in the spheres of higher education, science and culture is an important stage in the long-term relations between sister cities Samara and Stuttgart.
The topic of informatization was further discussed at the session of Academic council on May 27, 2011. Informatization is a priority direction for SSU development for 2011-2015.
